transformED Wins Coveted DATA AWARD
On May 16th, 2013 The Pittsburgh Technology Council held their annual Design, Art, and Technology (DATA) Awards Gala and Interactive Exhibition at the Grand Priory. The 2013 DATA Awards honored innovation in six categories:
- i-CON: Apps & Information Architecture
- Maker: Design & Art
- Media Arts: Interactive + Multimedia
- Joystick: Gaming
- Next Generation: Kids & Creative Technology
- Student Category
The DATA Awards honor those companies and organizations who are “leading edge” in promoting creativity and innovation and who are the leaders at the intersection of art, technology and innovation. The Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Center for Creativity/transformED was the selected honoree in “Next Generation: Kids & Creative Technology” Category.
James Denova of the Benedum Foundation presented the award and recognized the leadership of the AIU and transformED in providing opportunities for educators and students to be immersed in the world of innovation. As a digital playground for teachers, transformED aims to provide a safe space for educators to embark on creative and innovative journeys to aid in the introduction of these instructional practices into the classroom. transformED is made possible by the generous support of The Grable Foundation.
